September 23, 2022 -  Day 4 - Ethical and Legal Issues in Clinical Supervision

Due to COVID-19 changing the way we participate in continuing education over the past 2 years, we have switched from in-person to live interactive webinars.  This switch has shown us many conveniences such as not having to deal with traffic while attending a workshop, being able to schedule clients directly after a webinar (when you would be driving home from the in-person workshop), and other general conveniences that a live, interactive webinar provides to participants.  Given this convenience, and the fact that all states where we teach allow live, interactive (synchronous) webinars to count as in-person workshops, we will continue to provide these trainings as live, interactive webinars for now. We will be keeping our eyes open for the possibility of live in-person workshops in 2023 and beyond, but for the remainder of 2022 we will continue with live, interactive webinars.  We will be using the Zoom platform.

This 6 hour interactive workshop focuses on the major elements of legal and ethical issues surrounding Clinical Supervisors in behavioral health settings. Included are legal parameters of the NBCC along with legal parameters for professional counselors licensure regulations. In this workshop, participants will also learn about the different areas of legal and ethical concern for today’s clinical supervisors. Legal areas include scope of clinical and supervisory practice, malpractice, duty to warn, direct and vicarious liability, informed consent, confidentiality, and the ADA. Ethical areas covered include workplace harassment, dual relationships, and clinical supervision ethical standards. Teaching methods include lecture, experiential exercises and group participation/discussion.
