The goal of this interactive workshop is to help clinical staff identify the changes from the ASAM Criteria 3rd and 4th Editions and then to be able to implement the ASAM Criteria 4th Edition. Workshop participants will be able to identify at least 2 changes in the 6 Assessment Dimensions, and their corresponding new sub-dimensions within the ASAM Criteria 4th Edition. Workshop participants will be able to identify at least 2 changes in Continuum of Care of the ASAM Criteria 4th Edition. Workshop participants will be able to analyze how harm reduction, trauma informed care and cultural humility have been incorporated into the ASAM Criteria 4th Edition. Through the use of small group activities workshop participants will utilize a case study to determine level of care criteria and then make level of care recommendations in each dimension and level of care sub-dimension, using the ASAM Criteria 4th Edition’s new Dimensional Admission Criteria. Finally, participants will be able to utilize the Level of Care Determination rules to make a final Level of Care recommendation using the ASAM Criteria 4th Edition.

8:30 am – Zoom webinar opens for attendees to enter, workshop begins at 9 a.m. 9:00 AM – History of the ASAM Criteria – (15 minutes)
- History of The ASAM Criteria
- Introduction of Chapter’s 8 (Assessment, Reassessment and Measurement Based Care) and 10 (Dimensional Admission Criteria and Algorithm)
9:15 AM – Overview of Changes in ASAM from the 3rd to 4th Edition (30 minutes)
- Crosswalk of ASAM 3 vs. ASAM 4 Dimensions
- Crosswalk of ASAM 3 vs. ASAM 4 Levels of Care
- ASAM 4 Continuum of Care in Depth
- Universal Characteristics necessary for each level of care and required for every level of care.
- Medical and Clinical Necessity Defined

- Discussion of the changes in the Outpatient Levels of Care
- Level 1.0: Long-Term Remission Monitoring
- Level 1.5: Outpatient Therapy
- Level 1.7: Medically Managed Outpatient
- Level 2.1: Intensive Outpatient
- Level 2.5: High-Intensity Outpatient
- Level 2.7: Medically Managed Intensive Outpatient

- Level 3.1: Clinically-Managed Low Intensity Residential
- Level 3.5: Clinically Managed High-Intensity Residential

- Level 3.7 BIO: Capacity to provide management of IV medications
- Level 4: Medically Managed Inpatient
11:15 AM – Assessment, Reassessment and Measurement Based Care – Using Chapter 8 (45 min)

$129 Early Registration per workshop day (by 04/17/25) $150 Late Registration per workshop day (from 04/18/25 - 04/29/25)
Cancellation/Reimbursement Policy: Valid requests must be received in writing/email within seven (7) days of course date. Late requests for the 4 day workshop series can only bring in a substitute attendee or receive credit for a future workshop date. All refunds are subject to a $15.00 processing fee. If paid by credit card, an additional $4.04 fee will be assessed to cover the cost of PayPal processing charges on credit cards.Refund requests require 2-3 weeks processing time and will be issued as a check as is our policy.
