AI is increasingly being used in mental health work. No matter where you fall on the AI utilization spectrum, from actively using AI to actively avoiding it, it is important to have a good working knowledge of the many ways in which AI is being used in the behavioral health profession. This workshop will focus on four areas concerning AI: 1) the history of AI and terminology one needs to know regarding AI in mental health; 2) the practical uses (and best practices) of AI in mental health; 3) cultural implications of AI; and 4) ethical and risk management issues related to the utilization of AI. An interactive, small group exercise will help bring together the concepts of applications of AI in mental health, and their cultural and ethical implications when using AI with patient care.
